In Class I've read many interesting poems so far but one that has been a challenge for me is The Clock Fallen into the Sea by Pablo Neruda. This poems makes you think many different things in order to try to understand what it is he is talking about but I never fully grasped the concept of what he wanted to discuss through this poem. I knew that it wasn't going to come to me and make sense easily but I thought that it would at least make sense to me. So because this poem frustrated me so much I decided to read it over and over again until I understood it. By the time I read it for the ninth time I remembered that the poem was translated from Spanish so I then began to read it in Spanish in order to understand it better. That didn't work.
So I just came up with what I received from reading it, which was that he was hurt. He compares a lot of things as contradictions which made me think that he was confused as well as the poem. He says things like "there was so much dark light in space" which makes me think that he is using the word 'dark' as a sign of evil or something not healthy but then when I see the word light it makes me think of bright days which are sunny and typically thought of as good. I made these kind of comparisons through out the entire poem.
After I finished with comparing my comparisons to his poem I started to understand more, or at least I think I do. Pablo Neruda is uncertain, he is not really sure he knows what is what. He is stock in between a rock and a hard place and the things that are clear to some people he questions because things are never really what they seem they are to him. I in a way admire his work but it took a lot for me to try to understand it and I'm still not even sure if that's what he was really trying to explain in his poem that is just my interpretation of it.

My Introduction
Hello everybody, my name is Felicia Cruz and this is my second year attending Eastern Michigan University. My major is Criminal Justice but it use to be Journalism.I am 19 years old and have been through and experienced things people twice my age have not yet encountered, I guess that's why my superiors view me as wise even though wisdom comes with age and they are all older than me. I'm excited about my Creative Writing class because I've always found writing to be one of my hobbies that helped me to express myself better than I could with words. I've always wanted to make a blog but just never did, now I'm happy because I can mark this off of my "To Do" list that was continuing to get longer and longer everyday.
